1989 Alpha 1 - Intermittent Trim Operation

I have a 1989 Alpha One. Recently, I lose trim and Tilt intermittently. Seems like it rarely works while underway, then when I get to my slip and try to find the problem, it works again. When it is not working, I can hear a relay clicking. I just repowered this boat and would expect the installer tightened all connections.

Any Ideas?

You suppose it's possible he left something loose accidentaly? If I were you, I would be checking.
Also looked for corroded connections.
If the relay is clicking, it may not be getting enough power from a bad connection.

I just had the same problem with my '90 Alpha One. The trim-up would work only when it wanted to and NEVER when I needed it too.
I took apart the Trim Limit switch on the outdrive and it was kinda corroded. Took some emery cloth to the contacts under the cover and now it works all the time! I'd been using the trailer switch all the time to trim up but, considering the Trim Indicator guage isn't working either, I figured that could be kinda dangerous! Really need to replace both switches and wiring harness but for now I guess ir'll do.

The original poster mentioned he is loosing "Trim and Tilt" Intermittently, and obviously means up and down also. The trim limit switch does not effect Tilt and down in anyway.
