I unhooked the bungie cord off my transom saver and hit the trailer-up button to raise the drive enough to remove saver. After removing the transom saver, I was unable to trim down.
When I push down on the trim lever...I could hear the pump but no down movement.
When I push up on the trim lever...nothing (no sound/no movement...i'm assumming because I was in the full up position)
When I push the trailer-up button...nothing (i'm assumming because I was in the full up position)

I loosened the nuts were raise hyd hose connected to ram on both sides. Just enought to start seeing a pinkish-white-creamy-foamy looking liquid started easing out...then thightened them back.

The trim down begin to work.
Anybody have any suggestions on what happend? something to do with the trim limit switch?
Is this trim fluid suppose to look pinkish-white-creamy foam?
Have I done something bad by loosen those nuts?

Thanks!

Milky oil means water in the oil. Hydraulic system pumps and check valves don't like water or the damage it does.

Here is a link to the Merc service manual. Find the pump you have and start testing.
