I just sold one of those puppies and it was a great motor. There are a few things to be mindful of, some of these generally apply to all outboards tho. These motors can have a few problems with the trip/tilt, so tilt it up a soon as you get there and see if it holds. Some leak down and not always because of bad seals - something to do with the pump I was told. Mine has compression of about 150 but, as long as theyre all the same and over 100 thats cool. New gearbox oil looks just like that, new and tannish, old is darker - alot darker and yeah, water will make it milky. They were oil injected but some people take that off. With the motor comming up to 14 years old, you should give some of the wearing parts a once over too ie engine mounts (top and bottom), prop shaft to make sure the prop isnt seized on, gear box for cluncking - just general stuff.
