I've had my boat 10 years without a single problem until this summer. I blew a head gasket and plan to replace myself. I have all the parts yet need the torque spec for that engine. Would anyone be so kind to know what that might be? I would really appreciate it!!!
Thanks

240 INCH pounds, but go nice and slow.be sure the threads are clean on the bolts ,its not a bad idea to chase the tapped threads with a tap to clean them too,I use engine fogging oil to coat the bolts, some may say never seize, start in the middle working outward ,the more steps you do it in ,better,

Re: 1989 Evinrude 150 head torque?

Hello all...

Well I've successfully taken the heads off and replaced all gaskets, thermostats and etc. and I've torqued down the head, but now I need to know the torque specs on the Cylinder Head Cover and Thermostat Cover - with that I could be up and running. Does anyone know the specs of those 2 items for 1989 Evinrude 150?
Thanks!

mikesea,

Thank you for your help... however I ended up purchasing the manual just to be on the safe side and found the actual torque spec for that head is 220/in.
I guess there is no way around having the right info in hand.
Thanks again though!
