1989 Evinrude - Red Plug problem

I unplugged the battery cable on my 1989 Evinrude 25hp yesterday, and one of the pins fell out of the red plug?s male end. There were little wires hanging out of the pin and everything. I stuck the pin back in the hole and the engine ran fine (on muffs, in the driveway).

Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if there is an easy fix to this, or am I looking at another trip to the shop??

Thanks a lot,

I an not remember what THAT pin does, but some of those pins may not be used on your motor as some could be for trim gauge, temp sensor or overheat alarm. So if your motor is not set up to use those, the wires just dead end on the other end.
