My 1989 Force 125 will peg at nearly 17 volts when I an running at 1500+ rpm's. I recently changed the rectifier hoping this might solve the situation, but it did not change. I was told this was normal because the output is not regulated.

q1) Is this normal? I have never seen any other boat charge that high.

q2) If this is not normal, what else could this be?

According to the Clymer manual, it says that if you're reading anything above 14.5V replace the regulator/rectifier. Just read that in the manual. Hope that helps.

You will have to install a regulator of somekind...the Force engines did not come with Regulators...Just rectifiers.

You will most likely be able to use a Mercury one.

TMD
