Re: 1989 force 125 prop?

I need one as well, and I should be doing the research on them this week. I belive I'm
using the one with max pitch at 19 inches.
Your needs are completely opposite to mine.
I'm running a 18.5 Bayliner with 2 people
and never any skiing.

------------------

AS well as the prop I'll pass by the auto store to see if they have a waterproof tach
for a 2 cycle. Usually the best fuel economy
is at 75% power.

------------------

Re: 1989 force 125 prop?

There is rarely anything like a "stock" prop for a given motor, RJA. Props are supplied to match the boat to the motor. Often it is necessary to water test a prop to select the ideal one for your application. I would guess that your Renkin would need a 17" pitch, plus or minus 2". The cost of SS prop is too high to guess. The ideal prop will let your engine reach the top of it's operating range (typically 5500 rpm, but I don't know about your Force) with a light load, and at least the lower end (typically 4500rpm) with a full load. Borrow a 17" from your dealer or prop shop and try it out. If it allows the engine to go past the top of it's range, try a 19". If it wont reach the top, go down one size. Too many people blame poor performance on the boat or the engine when they are using a wrong prop.

Note to sony2001: I wouldn't be surprised if you could use a 21". 19" is not max.
Hope that helps.
JB

RJA; the origional prop my be a 13X19 but all prop suppliers say, 17'to22'boats, all loaded and skiing, it should be a 13.5X15. Oddly 120hp, two years younger recommend a 13X17.

13.5X15 QEM# 48FP692-1
Mich# 072127
13X17 maybe your choice! but they are expensive. Today found one at 1/3 the price. It was gathering dust on the wall, from a different generation FORCE, diff colour, and
the same pitch {13X19}. Look for a good used
or rebuilt in aluminum.

------------------

If you have the 20 feet Riken, Try to find the prop with 13.5 x 15. I have a 21 feet Bayliner Trophy cuddy, heavy boat and I have 15 x13. and I max out at 32 knot at 5000RPM
