1989 Force 50 HP (I think)

I can not find a model and serial number plate anywhere on my motor, is it common for these to fall off or be taken off? Is there another way to identify the model? I need to order parts and want to make sure i'm getting the right ones.

Welcome to iboats.

Not sure about Force but OMC put a welch plug on the motor with that info for just a reason.

It is a nickel sized metal plug somewhere on the power head itself.

There is a round stamp on the head with the number 89 surrounded by a 6 digit number, could this be it?

Another thing, the cowel decal says Force by Mercury Marine. I thought US Marine made these motors.

As I understand it, Force was a lower cost motor made by Mercury.

Sound slie you found it, OMC engines go by year but Mercs run everything off the serial number so will want the 6 digit number to order parts find out year ect.
