Hello:

New to me 1989 Force 50 outboard. ID tag shows as a 507X9A, Sr 1389. I ordered new impeller and seals. After parts arrived, they didn't fit so I went back and looked again at the site I ordered them from and another (matched what I ordered).

When I compare the impellers, both look the same except the shaft size. The new one fits a 1/ 2 " shaft and the original fits a 5/8 " shaft.

It may not an issue, but while looking closer to see the model/serial number, I noticed a difference in paint color of the leg as compared to the engine mount and power head.

How can I get the proper impeller. The old one is showing some nicks and wear so putting it back in is not a good option.

Thanks

When you look the impeller up on iboats or another site are there ALOT of serial number options? I found a few variations of your motor via a google search. Is there a number on the old impeller?

All the 50 Forces up to 1994 and some of the Chryslers use the same impeller.
Once you get to the Mercury parts starting in 95 it changes.
F433065-2 should be the #
boat . net sells it.
I looked on this site and it seems they don't sell it.

Re: 1989 Force 50 impeller/drive shaft size

Thank you for your help.

When I looked at the new impeller part number it is F436065-2. Going back to my parts order to figure out why I ordered that number, I found I had indeed I had ordered the correct part of F433065-2. So... I gathered-up all my parts to see if anything else is wrong and noticed on the second (spare) impeller I ordered was the correct part number.

The good news is I won't have to wait for a new impeller. I'll see how willing the parts place is willing to take back an open part.

Lesson learned, the details will get you every time you don't pay attention to them.

Thanks
