 got a bad cd module so i bought a new one, I guessed they changed a few things on these since there always going bad. My problem is the wires on the new one are a little different than the others. The old one had 3 wires on top looking at the back,a red white and blue one, the white with a green stripe.a black and white on the left and a red and orange on the right, and last a yellow green and orange on the bottom. The new one has a brown wire with a blue stripe and two whites one white with red and the other with green on one end,and the other end has a brown wire with a yellow stripe and two white wires, one with a yellow and the other with a orange stripe.on the left are the red and orange with the connectors, and the other side two blacks, one with a yellow stripe.I know just enough to be dangerous and would appreciate it if someone could help me out i have an idea of what goes where but would like to use my boat before ice fishing season.also can i just use this one module to run all three coils?

Keep It Simple Stupid. KISS. You want a new one like the old one or a used one like the old one. But not a new one not like the old one.

Re: 1989 force 85hp cd module wires

I have an '88 , 85hp force and went through the same thing last year . you have 2 cd's that each run 2 cyl's . 1/2 of 1 of one of them isn't hooked up as it is used in the 125 hp engines that are 4 cyl's . the old cd was made by u.s. marine and the new one ( expensive ) is made by mercury and has different colored wires.<br />here is the change : old-orange, new white/orange . old-green, new-white/yellow . old-yellow, new-brown/yellow. old-white, new-black/yellow. old-black, new-black. old-orange ( to coil), new-blue/orange. old-red ( to coil ) , new-blue/red . old-white/green, new-white/green . old- red , new-white/red . old-blue, new-brown/blue. Hope this helps , Rollie
