1989 forester 171 sport motor?

Hello first of all first time boat owner here. Was wondering if anyone could tell me what kinda motor is in my boat. its a 1989 forester 171 sport i/o with an omc cobra outdrive. the motor is a ford but other than that i cant tell what it is. hp? L? thanks in advance..

There is no way of knowing without some engine numbers and/or pictures. The boat manufacturer could have put several different engines and drive combinations in the same type boat.

thanks for the reply is it possible to use a v6 outdrive on a 4 cylinder motor?

Yea, they will fit, just won't work worth a dime.

i got in narrowed down to needing a 0mc cobra outdrive for a 2.3 4 cylinder. are there used classifieds on here or does anyone know of any? thanks

no classifieds here... may want to try your local craigslist or see if there's a boat boneyard(not commong) near where ya live.

would a 3.0 liter 4 cylinder outdrive work on a 2.3 liter or do they need to match exact.
