1989 Gamefisher outboard 15 Hp Help! Flywheel magnet and wiring configuration

Trying to repair this 15hp gamefisher ourboard motor and have ran into a couple of roadblocks. Neither spark plug is sparking, the wire configuration has been altered from past mechanic repairs so I have no idea where the 2 blue wires need to be. Also I noticed the flywheel magnets have an odd spacing from the outline behind them but I do not see any sign of sheering or cracks.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Where are the points? Condensers etc. The manual says the blue wires go to the condensers

I'm not sure on the wiring, but have a Force 9.9/15HP manual I can look at later.

I'm guessing you have 2 dead BIM coils, a high failure rate item. I had a dead one 10 years ago on a similar vintage Gamefisher/Force outboard. BIM coils are NLA, but Chicago Magneto supposedly makes replacements. I upgraded to CDI ignition, $200 or so. I wouldn't do that, unless I knew the outboard run 100%, and only has an ignition problem.

I looked at the manual and its definitely missing points and condensers. I had a 87 gamefisher 9.9 and mine did.

What kind of set up is that? Didnt see anything in the manual unless its what they are calling the motorola set up. Pretty interesting. Learn something new everyday.

I am hooking up universal ignition modules to replace points and condensers.it becomes electronic ignition with the modules.this will be the first time tried on 2cylinder.i have hooked them up to a single cylinder eska 5hp and was fairly impressed.eska fired up with easy pull idled smoother and smoother wide open.

I like to mount them outside of the fly wheel for easy access and maybe away from heat.have heard of some people having them go on them within minuets and others with no problems ever.maybe they went out quick from heat or just an old style module maybe.they are supposed to last along time.hardly any parts nothing to wear out

They are usually cheaper than points and condensers.they don’t work for every system electric start and anything with battery.i think it’s basically same as Motorola u mentioned

I have a picture of what looks the same as your ignition system with everything hooked up and it doesn’t have points and condensers depending on the year. It’s from another site and I don’t no how to send it to without email address.cant get it sent from there to here

I think the points and condensers are not missing. It is supposed to b an electronic ignition newer model than the 87. The wires for the electronic trigger system are not coming up through the hole by the plug wire holes.

Actually its all there.the 2 brown wires r for the trigger system they r not routed in correctly.they just need to be ran through the proper opening on the bottom right of your picture. its hard to c because its underneath the wires.u need 3 wires hooked up to the biggest screw on each side. They are all there and it looks like they are on the sides that they should b on.
