I own a 1989 Johnson 200 GT and recently started hearing the alarm buzzer sound slightly on the ignition switch/throttle box. It is not sounding full blast as if there was a problem with the engine and the engine is running fine. At first it would only do this when idling out of marina's etc., but it seems to have gotten worse. Now it starts making a slight noise and increases with higher RPMs even when the engine is just sitting out of gear (for example when I have my fast idle lever up). It seems to get louder the faster the engine is idling. I have noticed the last couple of times I have had the boat out in the water that it even makes a little noise when running at 3500 RPMs when running down the lake. Does this mean that something is being sensed as a problem with the engine or could it just be that I have a short or something in the warning buzzer? This noise is also spiratic in that it does not do this at all times but randomly. Please advise.

Thanks

Scott Holmes

Scott - Please do not take the alarm buzzer sounds lightly. Others can help pinpoint the exact warning. The alarm is telling you there is some kind of problem with either your VRO (oil mix delivery system) or your motor is getting hot. Ignoring either can lead to very expensive repairs.

Please get the OMC manual for your motor no matter what info you get on this forum.
