1989 Johnson 30hp, Can top crank seal be taken out without splitting cranckcase??

Seal is leaking, is there a special tool to remove it? Or maybe drill small holes and install small screws and slide hammer it out?

Help would be appreciated.

I have popped them out around the crank before.

Your small screw trick worked for me a couple of times. Get a piece of pcv pipe the correct size to install the new seal.
