I have recently purchased a Larson Senza 17.5 foot with this engine. A few quirks I would like to ask about.
1. The fuel often leaks out of the carbs
2. When engaging the Fwd/Rvse the gears chatter and sometime pop out of gear at low RPM.
3. High fuel consumption. Was wondering if a shifter prop would be advisable as the engine has lots of power. With transom up we are getting about 58 mph.
4. The starting ring gear is damaged. Any ideas what causes that.

I bought the boat for a project. I re-upholstered the whole interior, polished the clear while fixing some road nicks, fixed all hardware and windshields, installed stereo, installed full instruments and love the handling of the boat.

I own a 83 gt 150 and put a new shifter prop in and went from 50 to 83mph. it would be a great investment for you.

Who makes shifting props... and can you use them on any engine?
