Hey all,
I have been rebuilding an 89 GT and accompanying bass tracker for the past 3 months. After alot testing and part replacing on the electrical side i am now rebuilding the carbs as a final step before testing the motor.

I pulled the carbs, pretty straight forward but the top carb is missing what i am gunna call a "jet" located on the top of the assembly. there are 2 on the other carbs, can anyone suggest where i can find a replacement jet?

to be specific the jet is point into the barrel of the carb and is covered by the top metal sheet and gasket.

these are from a 1989 johnson gt150, 35amp system tj150sclem model

First of all, the three carbs usually all have the same 3 jets in the same location on the carb. I believe you are talking about the idle air bleed jet, between the two venturis. You can pull the same jet out of the other two, examine for the marking on the jet, and get a replacement. Or, you can go to the original factory exploded parts diagram on the web and look it up: epc.brp.com. Once you get into the parts diagrams, look for the correct year, and the hp. The exploded diagrams are most helpful, with actual part numbers that can be ordered from any Evinrude dealer. Just be careful when removing a jet. They are brass, delicate and can be damaged if the screw driver used does not fit the slot correctly.

Some internal carb and engine parts are not identified in the parts catalog. Maybe because they are never sold. (never get lost and never wear out.) You may have to call Bombardier's customer hotline for more details. If you can get a p/n you may have a shot. Worst case is to buy a new cast part that has the "jet" already in it. Try this number: 262-884-5993

Much appreciate! ive looked around for the part a good bit but not having a name nor part number has put me at a slight disadvantage. Thanks for the info!

If you ever wind up with a bare factory block, you will find there are maybe 20 small pcs (many brass) which have to go into the block prior to assembly. None are called out on the blueprint. Of course it is rare ever to get a bare factory block.

Now that you mention it, i took the carbs off and noticed 6 screws. 2 per level or one per cylinder that go into the block. Any idea what these may be and how to clean them? i unscrewed one and counted rotations. it had a channel behind it with some gunk. I am fighting a backfire with this motor and trying to track down what i believe is a fuel issue. Brand new plugs were extremely fouled up after running maybe 5 gallons of fuel plus 50-1 mix

new fuel line
new fuel pumps x2 ---> vro disconnected previous
new fuel filter by sierra
fuel tank cleaned
all connections zip tied tight or clamped - was not done before but done for extra security
removed the vacuum switch as it was leaking tiny amounts of gas and the alarm is gone ( plan to replace eventually )
and now a rebuild on the carbs to settle up

Any suggestions as to a fuel related component ive missed?

more info on electrical side as to why i believe it is a fuel issue - Motor had a bad power pack for which i tested (have a factory manual, if anyone needs i have in unlocked pdf form for 5-235hp models of many years) and replaced, replaced the timer( tested bad as well), and when i pulled the flywheel i found the stator to be severely melted and burnt( though it tested out okay) and i replaced that. While i was there i replaced the rectifier/regulator as they arent all that expensive and pulling the flywheel took me about 10 days. all coil packs have been tested and check out, one was replaced. starting solenoid replaced as well.
