1989 Merc 115 question???

On the back of the motor on top left looking from rear is what I think thermostat. When I flush motor I notice water coming out of a vent hole. Is this a problem????? Also my motor seems to use little two stroke oil. Is this a problem also???? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

i had the same motor, inside that cover is also a rubber diaphrgm(pop off valve) to by pass the thermostat at full throttle, i dont think it should be leaking, probably need a new diaphragm.

Yeah, if I have the hose pressure too high it drips out on the rear part of the engine by the plugs. I'll look into the rubber part. Any other lessons learned from your motor. This is my first modern outboard. It does not seem to use much oil.
