1989 mercruiser 200/v8 thunderbolt ignition no spark out of distributor!!!

I just got a 1989 20' four winns boat and it has a 1989 mercruiser 200/v8 with a thunderbolt ignition. The motor is not fireing up. I checked for gas and its getting gas so i checked for spark "NONE" I took the coil wire off and it is getting spark to up to this point, but im getting very litle if none out of my plugs. Does any one have any sugestions?? I checked the cap and rotor they look ok except the distributor has 2 of the 4 bolts broke off that hold the cap on. Do you think this can be a issue??? This is going to be a great boat for a better price! $1200.00 "you can't beat that"

So, spark from the coil but not the wires?
the rotor could have a blow out hole and is grounding the spark to the dist shaft. The carbon button in the cap is bad, or the plpug wires are wasted

It needs a full tuneup anyway, so go ahead and replace cap/rotor/wires/plugs..

wouldnt matter, it`s got spark at the coil tower

yes the coil has great spark comming out of the wire. i installed new plugs the dealer needed to order me a rotor,wires,and cap. i thank everyone for the help and i will post a update asap

Had a similar problem a few weeks ago & it turned out to be the ignition sensor in the distributor. Symptoms were same, power at coil but no spark.
There is an ignition test sequence in the manual which should give you an accurate identification of the problem.

wired in kill switch had to remove the mercury switch works great!!!!! thankyou!!!!!
