1989 Mercruiser 4.3LX Edelbrock 2111 & head question?

I aquired a Edelbrock Performer 2111 with edelbrock carb for $180 seemed like a good deal. anyway I do use the boat often in saltwater, the 1989 4.3lx is fresh water cooled. Even though its fresh water cooled will it corode? Also was thinking of doing the 1996+ vortec head swap, will the 2111 manifold work with the vortec heads? Boat is a 24' larson so it could use the extra gains.

Welcome Aboard!

When you say "Fresh-water" cooled, do you mean it has a heat exchanger? If it does, NO. The aluminum manifold will not internally corrode from the salt water unless you spill some on the top of the engine which will cause some external corrosion..

The power gains you will get will probably not be all that noticeable.

The only way to get extra power for a boat that big will be to get more "cubes"

I think the 2111 fits up to 95 model. So i would say no to fitting the vortec heads. I think the 2114 is for vortec heads.

If it's not an Edlebrock 1409, it's not a marine carb. DO NOT fit it to a marine engine....
