1989 mercruiser 5.0lx ignition timing

Trying to set the ignition timing after an intake replacement. It's a 89 mercruiser 5.0LX. The amplifier box is the v8-22s which says to set the timing at 30 degrees BTDC. The timing pointer only reads from 8 degrees BTDC to 8 degrees ATDC. How do i properly set the timing? This has the thunderbolt breakerless ignition and i'm getting these timing specs from a Clymer mercruiser manual. Thanks.

Set initial timing to 8 degrees BTDC, at idle RPM, engine at operating temperature.. The advance is electronic.
