1989 Mercrusier hesitates on acceleration, has a 2 V Roch. Carb

My 1989 Mercruiser 470 170HP 4 cylinder with a 2 barrel Rochester carb. #17057132 0691. Now has issues.
The engine is in a 1989 Wellcraft Classic of which is 19.5 foot long.
Carb. and Engine Had been working just fine. Now, it is hesitating on full throttle acceleration. Yet Will allow engine to speed up to a point of 2500 RPM if done slowly but little more than that, and cannot reach full throttle ever now.

Engine Idols fine. Starts just fine, even with a cold engine.
What should I check to be wrong? and how should I do these checks ?

Ayuh,... Check for crud in the fuel filters,....

I suspect it's gotten to the carb,.... Rebuild it,...
