Hey everyone,
I picked up a used 1989 mercury 100hp and I have 4 wires that come out of my wiring harness. Pink, gray, brown, and dark brown w/ white stripe. The 2 brown wires have black caps on them. The other 2 have connections. Looking through my manual I can't find a wiring diagram that matches these. I want to have my Tach and Amp gauge working. Can some one please give me some advise on what these go to? Thank you

Usually the wiring to the dash is on a short cable coming out of the controls box. You need an instrument wiring harness with the correct Amphenol plug to connect. On mine (late 80s V6), there are two wires to the tach: purple for 12V power switched through the ignition switch, grey for signal from the motor. You connect a ground from wherever is convenient. You also have to figure out how many poles on your charging system and adjust the tach's setup switch accordingly.

Volt meter can use the same ground and power as the tach. Or if you have a multi function GPS/sonar like a Lowrance HDS series, you can display battery voltage on the screen and save the additional cost and work of a dedicated gauge.

Not sure I understand the pink wire being for the fuel tank? It is part of the short lead coming from the remote.
