Can anyone tell me ho to replace the alarm on my Mercury 200 Black Max? When I turn the key, it sounds off and won't shut off as designed.

Have you checked the wiring for shorts to Ground?
Have you unhooked the Sensors/Sending units to see of it quits?

A 1989 motor would have the oil injection system, I would think. if so you have alarms for low oil and overheat. Any idea which alarm is sounding?

Check the wiring harness for bare insulation on the tan wires. Tan wires with and without traces are usually the alarm control wires.

Hey Jimmbo, thanks for responding. I have not checked the wiring, because I don't know where to locate the alarm unit. The help I'm looking for is the location of the alarm, only then can I check the wiring and he unit itself.

The alarm buzzer is often under the dashboard. It could also be inside the control. On top of the motor is a couple of electrical devices. One is the monitor unit for the oil injection. The other is the idle stabilizer, if it had not been discarded by the PO.

No idea which alarm is sounding as I can't find the alarm unit(s).
