Hello all! I'm new here and I'm having a bit of a problem with my boat I bought recently. I have a 1989 Mercury Force 125hp, when I raise the motor with the trim, it raises just fine, but then slowly starts to lower by itself. Now, I'm completely new to boat motors, so any replies, please give answers as if you were writing "explaining trim for dummies" :) Also, if I put it in reverse and give it some throttle, the engine wants to lift out of the water, is that normal?

Thanks in advance!!

Um.. What is that and where is that and how should I do it?

Also, any clue about the reverse issue?

Remember, I'm boat ignorant :p

Ps. I know this subject has been talked about in different post, but I cannot find where anyone has gone into great detail on how to accomplish this fix. It appears that the answers are for people that have an idea of what to do. Don't get me wrong, I'm a very capable person, I just need to be pointed in the right direction. :)

your best bet is to buy a shop manual
factory is the best, merc makes a good one
