Do not get a spark from plug when held against engine block, what could be my problem? Wires are good checked with a continuity tester.

It's a 1989 60 Hp, #OC122744 Model number. 3cylinder

Lots of things. Grounded kill wire (anywhere from short somewhere or a faulty "safety" switch), bad stator, bad trigger, bad switch box etc.... Go here and troubleshoot. http://www.cdielectronics.com/support/
