1989 omc 4.3 overheating.

Ok so i inherited this boat when my father passed and would really like to get it on the water, it an 89 omc i/o model# 432aprmed , got it running and water is flowing through the muffs and up the hoses but it overheating at idle after running for a few minutes, and not all the hoses are getting hot only the hoses that go to the manifolds are getting hot, would this be a sign of bad thermostat? also how can I tell if the impellar is working properly, thanks

I have looked through the stickys over and over but find no answer on how to isolate if its the thermostat or not, i just wanted to know if all the hoses should be hot or if the hose that goes to the water pump on the engine would stay empty if the thermostat is stuck closed ? I did try searching and such but cant seem to find a straight forward answedr, if anyone has some insight it would be greaTLY APPRECIATED, THANKS
