First let me say I really appreciate the vast knowledge that is shared by many of you experienced boaters. that being said I am a new boat owner and I'm hoping I haven't bit off more then I can chew. I brought a 1989 Sunbird 16foot cruiser. The floor seemed solid and the used boat dealer stated that it was good also the tramsom. there was a small area towards the back that wassoft but not mushy also I was trying to look for the stringers not sure what I'm looking for can some one please help? also If I need a need floor what would it cost?

Re: 1989 Sunbird Restoration

Sunbird's were entry level boats and not particularly well made. If it was maintained and stored covered it could be alright. If it was left out in the elements then I would bet money you're in for a deck and stringers and maybe transom. It's a big job, you can (and should) do it yourself. Paying someone else to do it would far exceed the value of the boat. What motor does it have? We like pictures. Welcome to iboats!
