I have decided, that instead of selling my first boat, I will keep it as my strictly fishing rig.
It is a 1989 Sylvan supersportster, with a newly rebuilt 1998 johnson 115 faststrike, which I used for one season only, LAST year.
1st question, I winterized the motor at the end of last season, but did not start it at all this year. Should I start it and let it run, and re-winterize it? Or leave it be for another winter?
2nd. The two major areas of concern with the boat that I need to repair are: The gas tank. It needs to be replaced, so I assume i just find one with the correct mesaurements and replace it. And the second is, atleast, the splash well. It i the old design, which bends down, and is screwed to the transom from underneath. I have replaced the marine sylcone and installed larger screws.
Is there any options for getting a better splashwell in there, or do I remover the motor, and re-do the transom and have someone fabricate a new splash well at the same time?
