Bought my first ever boat on April Fools Day, 4/1/06. Hope that's not an omen.
Lightly used boat that has only seen fresh water in Southern Maine.
40Hp Evinrude has not been started in 3 years.
I'm replacing prop, plugs, lower unit lube, and doing a compression test before turning it over.
Any hints, suggestions, advice would be appreciated before I turn the key.

Hey kwikk9, welcome to iboats and the boating world.
You have picked a nice starter boat for sure in the Whaler.
Let's get this to the Johnson/Evinrude forum to get them engine questions answered.
Again, welcome to iboats.

Thanks, SBN, as an update, she's running sweet, thanks to the advice from the Johnnyrude forum. This weekend she gets a through hull scrub and wax and should be in the water, weather permitting. I really enjoy the Whaler forum. I grew up near Cape Cod, MA in the 60's and remember seeing all the Whalers (built in Marshfield, MA, I think) around the harbors.

Thanks for the reply. If you are ever up towards Maine, we've got some really hungry largemouth bass hiding out in Lake Arrowhead (or so I'm told).
