Hello, Maybe someone can help me?? I just purchased a used 1989 yamaha 175 for my 19 ft 1988 arrowglass center console. At WOT my speed was at about 40mph at rpm at 5800, using an 18pitch prop. I had a 19 on there and it was a dog. I used to boat the rest of the season and it sat for a month (september) I went to use it again for the start of my striper season and when I went to put the throttle down it bearly even moved.. it would start to go and then slow down. I had the gas tank sten replaced because it broke of and I wan't getting any suction. I'm not sure what to do? Does anyone have any sugestions where to start? the motor starts right up and idle's fine. I would appreciate any help..
Thank you,

I would start at the fuel tank and go all of the way to and through the carbs after first checking for compression and fire. It sounds like a fuel restiction, but you need to do the basics first.

Thank you Ray, I will check compression this weekend 11/10/04. I will post the results. If compression is OK, should I replace tank? Or just clean it out to make sure all the valves are clean.
Thanks for the help
