1990 Bayliner Cobra 1804 w/ 1990 120hp force motor. It was bought new off the showroom floor and parked for 18 years until I bought it. VERY little use on this boat, if that points toward anything.

After coming back into the landing, my tilt/trim suddenly developed a problem. It would tilt up normally, but would only tilt down VERY slowly, and would barely move through it's trim range. Even when down into the trim range, it would move extremely slowly.

The pump sounds the same, and the relays are clicking (both relays have been replaced in the last year). I did notice some grease on the starboard tilt ram, but I think it may have been dropped there off the steering arm.

Where do I even start with this problem? I am a pretty capable home mechanic, but I haven't torn into one of these before.

Don't tear into it yet.A can of WD or silicone lube.Spray it on the rams and grease it up good then up and down and up and down.Keep spraying WD abd see if it helps.Setting that long without lube might have dried out the seals.
If that don't help then contact RRITT.J

It did sit for a good long time, but it has run well the last 2 years. This came out of the blue. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks.
