What do i need to remove etc. I'm a diesel mechanic but have never had to work on my bass boat for anything since new. I recently busted the feed line that goes from the small tank to the engine and I luckily caught it before I ran it with out oil. That got my attention!

I would like to pre-mix my fuel if possible.

I'm also needing another water pump, can someone give me the procedure for the remove/reinstall of that please.

I know thats a lot to answer at once but I do appreciate the help.

I hate to bump but does any one know how/what to remove so that I can pre-mix or a link to a site that can tell me what to do.

I think I can "feel" my way through the water pump replacement but you can give me tips if you have them.

I do not have a FSM on this engine.

Thanks
Jon

If you fixed the line you should be fine. The Oil injection system in the mercs are of the most reliable. If you compare it to the first version of VRO in the johnsons and evinrudes, even VRO2 its a no brainer. If you had VRO I would tell you for sure to yank it and mix, but the system in the mercs is very reliable, you will know if you are running out of oil before it goes. The merc should have a low oil sensor on it which will beep and let you know. I know my 89 Blackmax 150 does.

Thanks! Yep the alarm does work good and I replaced the line with some clear 1/4" fuel line like what was on there, the old one fell apart. Makes me feel better that I have a good reliable system on the Merc. Its a great running motor that pushes this heavy bass boat at 70+ top speed. I have always been impressed with how well it runs and how easy it is on gas. I will leave the pre-mix system alone and work on the water pump. It recently has started heating up at medium speeds but the telltale has a good stream so It may be a thermostat, not sure yet, still diagnosing.
