So I was wondering if anybody has done a transom and stringers on a 90 225 sundowner.
I installed a transducer this past weekend and noticed some wood chips were wet. This was up high on my transom. The floor of my boat is still solid so I don’t know how bad it really is. I have a loco co op by me and weighted my boat and the and I was 300 pounds heavier than what it calls. But I didn’t have my top and cover on my boat, all my fishing tackle, my tubes and all that good stuff. So the weight is close to right I would say. I know drilling more samples in the transom would help but I’m just trying to gather information on the job before I decide what to do. My motor has zero flex under a load

The best thing to do is, as you said, drill some more holes. Especially around the drain tube, lower engine bolt holes, and near any other thru hulls. If you're getting light colored damp wood it isn't critical right now to replace it. If you start finding dark, rotten wood it's a different story. Be sure to have something to fill the holes in that will set in contact with wet wood. This stuff will work for that:

Yes, drill on the inside of the boat. If the shavings are good, just fill with 3M 4200 or 5200 and go boating.

So I did a handful in the trans and did not find any that looked terrible. Yes most holes shavings were wet some. I’m thinking this winter to gut it and redo it.
Does anybody know the sundowners ? I see where the motor sits on two stringers, but then once they hit the tank wall they stop. Do they run all the way up to the front ?

I am doing a 87 Sundowner, My mounts did not extend past the bilge but i suppose the few years between our models there could be a design change. Be prepared for a lot of foam removal
