Hi, I’m thinking of purchasing a 1990 2300 Raven Countach.
It has a 7.4 Mercruiser 454 power plant. The only issue it has is it will need a new flywheel. One tooth is broke/sheared off. My question is this. Is it a hard job to replace it? The PO is supplying the new flywheel.
Thank you,

John

The motor has to come out after the outdrive is removed.

Can the motor start and the boat be taken out for a lake test? The reason the flywheel is missing a tooth may be a symptom of serious problems.

Ayuh,..... Ya don't need a new flywheel, ya just need to change the Ring Gear,.... 'bout 30 bucks at Napa,.....

Ya gotta pull the drive, then the motor to get the flywheel cover, 'n flywheel off the motor,.....

Then ya gotta align the motor to the gimbel, before ya put the drive back on,......

Thank you for the response. So it’s involved. Maybe not a good choice to purchase the boat. He is asking 4K for it. Pulling the entire drive line to change the flywheel is not your advantage tune up or Sunday project.
