okay i just got a new boat and we ran it on muffs for a feww minutes and when we did i notice there is like a sludge coming out of the prop.When i took it out to run it thinking maybe it was unburned oil it seemed ok but when i pulled it out of the water i now see this same thing coming from between the lower unit and the shaft i guess is what its called.There is like a weep hole there and its coming from that hole any help would e great i dont want to ruin my engine thanks guys.

sounds like unburnt oil to me, no offense intended, but with your description a picture would be priceless, i assume you mean between the midsection and the lower unit, the weep hole there allows water to drain so that it doesn't stand there or freeze and cause damage, since exhaust and water mix in the lower unit, oil would be expected to leak from there. As a precaution you might be wise to check your lower unit oil level to know for a fact that it is full, and that it is not milky. if milky you have water intrusion and will need to address that. Running engine on the muffs allows oil residue (from exhaust) to drain in a different fashion than when running in the water. It may take a few trips depending on how you operate the boat and how long to rinse this stuff from the inside of the midsection.... esp if the water is cold.
