I just bought my boat about a month ago. It came with a 50hp johnson that the previous owner said had a newly rebuilt powerhead. It looks great, and runs great. Everything has been going good until I noticed a little leak between the foot and lower housing. I drained the lower unit and the fluild looked good, I put gasket sealer on the foot base where it connects to the housing. I did notice that when I took the bolts out of the lower unit, it was missing the back two. I got new bolts, sealed it and put new fluid in it. I took it out today and noticed there was a slight knocking coming from what sounded like the lower unit. It only happens when it is in forward gear. It is really slow knock and goes away at idle speed. Has anyone heard of this? The only thing I did was lower the lower unit to reseal it and add new fluid, along with the two missing rear bolts. Any info would be great.
