1990 60 HP Mercury

My brother has a 1990 pontoon with a 60hp Merc. He did'nt winterize it about 6 years ago, and wouldn't start the next year. I went down sat, and put in new plugs,fuel filter,fuel line and bulb. We could get it to start & run as long as I squirted gas & oil mixture into the carbs. Anyone know where the bowls are so I can take them off and clean them. There is a plate that sits flush with the carbs, that has 4 big screws and a couple of bolts- but I was leary of taking them off.

The carbs are at the front of the motor behind the air box. You really should get hold of a manual before attempting this kind of repair. I think you are on the right track with your diagnosis.
