Does anyone know how to set the timing at engine idle on a 1990 Johnson 60? The high speed timing is right on at 18 degrees. The idle timing checks about 8 degrees after TDC. I have the Johnson manual and this has been discussed up here several times but never really answered. I have the single mark throttle cam. (There are two cams that year and the manual covers the double mark cam but not the single) Thanks

The actual idle timing may vary from rig to rig. A lot depends on how deep the motor sits in the water on this rig (exhaust backpressure). Don't worry too much about an absolute number, set it so the motor idles properly with the throttle plates completely closed.
