1990 60hp VRO or not ???

Gentlemen, DFI can not rebuild my VRO pump (3 wire) however they can sell me a new one (4 wire) Do I want to buy a VRO at 200.00. VRO or not. If I mix my own gas, don't I still need the pump ????? Thanks

Bennett,<br /><br />If you mix your own (50:1, one pint TCW-3 oil to six gallons 87 octane unleaded) you DO still need the pump. Bennett:<br />If your VRO/fuel pump problem is the oil pump having failed, you can still use the fuel pump side of the unit. It requires plugging the oil inlet line to the VRO side and disconnecting some alarm wiring for just the oil system. DON'T disconnect the temperature alarm.<br />The proper procedures to follow to use the pump for fuel only have been posted on here several times. With any luck, a search should get you that info.<br />Charles
