Someone stole my prop and I did not make note of what pitch. I use this motor for trolling mainly but also would use it in an emergency if I lost power on main motor.

I read up a little on prop selection. Can someone give me a guess as to where I should start? 9, 10?

Used to have a 96 Evi 15 HP years back, according to the spare parts manual only 3 props pitches were available 9-9.5-10. A 9 would be a good starter, but if wanting to get max HP out of that OB must install a induction tach go for a wot spin as usually loaded and check if OB produces at least middle to max wot rrpm range. That OB should rev 5-6 K rpm at full throttle.

It's better to have that OB revving at full wot rpm, will push combo well along using it for throlling although 2 strokes doesn't like being used that way for long time periods, plug fouling issues. Check if Iboats has a less prop, pitch available, say an 8 as an alternative to a 9.

Happy Boating

I have an 18' aluminum Starcraft, using a 15 hp for trolling.
I can tell you that a 4 blade 5 pitch prop, and a 2:1 gearcase from a 9.9 remote engine, is not a good idea.
It maxes out at 3.5 mph @ about 6000 rpm. Long story.

A 7-9 pitch prop should be fine.
