1990 AQ271 exhaust from water inlet to manifold

Bought a 1990 2157 carver Montego 12 days ago fresh water cooled. Removed raw water pump for inspection replaced impella all good. When purchased I noticed low raw water out put during test. Ok I still have low water out put and temp is starting to rise 190f. Shut it down an removed hose what was to be water exit to manifold,started up and exhaust blasted water, then just exhaust back out where water should going? Ok I'm going to start breaking down riser an manifold in the AM. Share some thoughts! thanks.

Might want to pull the risers from the manifolds and check the water passages to see if they are plugged up. Common problem on old manifolds and risers in salt water.

Thanks Don.I'll start with risers an work my way in. If lucky clean it out an for the price of a gasket up an running. Thanks !

If they are plugged up, it's from rust from the manifolds and risers. You don't clean them, you replace them. Manifolds and risers in salt water have a life expectancy of 5 to 8 years. Just cold hard facts of life with boats in salt water.

Yea Don I know that but was hopeful.We will see in the AM. Been price checking as we speak for new manifolds an risers.

Yup manifold has a crack about 10" across the two center bolts. And the risers are nasty. Chipped picked and made a hole easily. I may now have "B ROKE O UT A NOTHER T HOUSAND". Was not very hard to do !!!!
