1990 Bayliner Capri

Hello, I just found this message board the other day and I think its really nice.
I have a 1990 17' Capri CS BR. with a 1995 Mariner 50 HP OB I bought the boat about a month ago and Im happy with it. I noticed on this model their is only storage under the middle cushion in the bow, Why didn't they have storage under the other cushions? Has anyone cut out wells under the out side cushions? or would this weaken the bow if you done this? I have attached pictures to see if any one else has one like mine on here.

I wouldn't worry about it - those little compartments only hold about three candy bars anyway. Not worth cutting into your boat.

All I use the bow compartment for is the beaching rope,and some stuff under the two seats in the back and side kick rails, and the floor compartment between the councils, every thing else comes out that isn't boat stuff, cooler,beach blankets,Etc...I didn't mess with the strarb/port bow cushions either, too much work for so little space. Nice boat and welcome to Iboats !!

I'm not sure but I think they use that space as a floatation chamber. Interestingly most bowriders now use it as storage. I have an (90') 18' Capri and mine is the same as yours in this sense....only bow storage compartment....no side seat storage.
I guess they didn't do the central floor/bilge storage compartment until the next size up beyond the 17'.
How about in the back under the rear jumper seats...anything there in yours?
......maybe thats why these capris never caught on with the smugglers.

I won't be cutting it out I just wondered if anybody has. Under the middle cushion I have pretty much full. Battery, Anchor, Rope, Extra Prop and a small storage container.
