1990 Evinrude 150 VE150SLESB Jumping Spark
Motor is jumping spark on the bottom two cylinders where the clamps for the engine cowl are. There has been a hesitation mostly on warm restarts after fishing and sometimes the motor would surge before coming up on plane before straightening out and running correctly. When I had it out yesterday and it started doing this I (carefully) pulled the cowl off while it was still running and it immediately corrected the hesitation. It never hesitates with the cowl off. I made new plug wires and routed them higher but I am wondering if I should try to put some type of coating (nonconductive) over the top part of the metal clamp inside the cowl. Any suggestions?
