I have a 1990 Evinrude 150HP "XP" model outboard. We bought this boat 3 years ago and it runs great, no major problems. However, its time to change the water pump. Now, do I need to replace the whole pmp, housing, etc. or just the impeller? Everything works right now but I've read on here it should be changed every 3 years so...
also, the model number on the engine says VE150SLESB . I have found parts for a VE150SLES and for a 150SLESB (no VE), which is correct?
And lastly, does anyone know the original part number for the water pump or can direct me to the exact replacement part(s) I need to order online? I found a reputable site but when I search it comes back with a water pump assembly for all johnson/evinrude from 1979-2007 as though its universal, does that sound right? I will be buying either a clymer manual or one from kencook.com before attempting replacement. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
