I would like to replace the VRO pump on a 1990 Evinrude 150 XP with a plain fuel pump. I have seen lots of articles on it but I haven't see the part number(s) for the pump and any good instructions for doing it on this model. We are pretty sure the pump is not functioning properly because of fuel starvation under a load. We have checked the bulb, vacuum lines etc.

Thanks

Phish, I think if I was going to diable the VRO and go to straight mix and you are certain that the fuel end of the pump is bad, I would go with the VRO replacement pump. This is a fuel only pump and costs about 1/2 of what the full VRO pump costs. What your looking for is capacity. The early V6's used twin pumps.....the old ones were sufficent at best. The newer ones are much better. But by the time you throw on twin pumps and get all the plumbing in, just as quick to replace the VRO with the replacement non-oiling pump. Fits into the exact place the old pump would.

Or.....you can get VRO pump repair kits for the gas end of the pump. Much cheaper than both the above. I would drop in at the local J/Rude dealership and inquire.
