Just got a 1990? evinrude 2.3 hp model HE2RESS, it has compression 110 lbs, fuel to cylinder, spark outside cylinder. Spark plug held against plug hole will fire fuel mix in cylinder, but it won't start. Seems like the coil to me.
The sites I use to check part numbers and order from will not accept my model number. The closest I can come to it is Sierra 18-5170 for the 2.3 hp '95-'99 coil, however it doesn't look the same. Mine has only two connections; to the spark plug and to the magneto, Sierra 18-5170 appears to have four.
This is a Hong Kong evinrude by motor label and model number does this mean no available parts?
