1990 evinrude 50

this motor starts easy and seems to run ok at speed. At idol it runs rough ,coughs spits a little out of the low speed idle, Carbs have been cleaned. Any suggestions greatly. Thanks guys

What do you mean by------" coughs spits a little out the low speed idle "--------Where do you see that and is this on a hose or with boat floating on water ?

this is on a hose, top carb, low speed jet, not adjustable just a plug with a tiny hole. choughs, missing a lick. not smooth

It is in your best interest do a compression test first.---Did this problem develop suddenly ?----Any work done on this motor recently ?

think both carbs should have a low speed adjustment needle
i had similar, problem, lean sneeze, found i had 1 carb slightly open at idle, remove metal rod between carbs, engine should still start, any difference?
and compression test is basic troubleshooting, post numbers, is engine new to you?

Sam---Sorry------Some of us are not working on our first motor.-----The parts diagram for a 1990 model 50 HP clearly show an adjustable low speed mixture needle.---So do you have a 1990 model ?----Post a model # so we can assist you !
