I have a 6HP evinrude 1990 and I've worked on it for a long time rebuilt carb and tried a lot of other things and It will not hold an idle. I discovered a hole in the carb throat between the sound cover and the choke plate, and I believe that the hole goes in further into the carb, and creating a vac leak. I'm thinking that if I fill the hole with some type of putty, which is compatible with gasolene that it will cure my problem. I know this hole goes to the bottom of one of my sound cover bolts, I 'm not sure where the hole came from. It could have been the original casting or maybe the motor was dropped some time in it's life. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I wish I could post a pic, but I finally have my rope start assembly finally installed and I don't want to disturb it at this time..Thanks Marvxyz1
