Hello everyone,
My old name wouldn't let me on, so I had to make a new one...
Anyway, I was on here last summer and recieved tons of help and info on some minor repairs by many of you and really appreciate it!
Heres the deal:
I have a 1990 evinrude 70hp that bogs down @ wot. It idles great and runs its' balls off @ 3/4 throttle, but as soon as I open it up, it bogs down. Kinda like it's starving for fuel. I had my buddy pump the primer bulb during the bogging and there was no improved response, just seems like I was flooding it. There is new gas in there too.
So we broke the carbs down and dunked them in chem dip for about 20 mins each, carb cleaned them, compressed air ran through, and sprayed them again w/ carb clean. We adjusted the floats per the carb kit instructions which was 3/4" down from float bowl and then checked if the float was parallel w/ float bowl when inverted. We then adjusted the idle screw all the way in and then backed it out 3 1/2 turns on all. That all check out and it still fallls on its' face @ wot?
The service manual says to set them floats at 1 1/8" - 1 5/8"... We are going to try that tomorrow if the rain breaks.
Can you guys please help me out once again?
Thanks!
Jeff
