I was wondering if anyone has added a ski pylon to any Glastron fish/ski boat (outboard) and their opinions.

I was checking them out - the Swivel-Eze seems to be a popular one. It says you need access under the pedestal base for access. Is the back deck on one of these boats strong enough to support one of these for kids (15 and under) for wakeboarding? I have a 1990 model, which has the 3/4 post required by the pylon.

Additionally, the support posts for the pylon seem to need to be secured to the top of the same decking on back? or the top of the transom? I guess I'm just wondering about the strength of the back of the boat and possible stress applied to the fiberglass.

Re: 1990 Fish/Ski and adding Ski Pylon

Hello,

I recently added a Swivel-eze pro adjustable pylon to my 1977 (a bit older than yours) 19' glastron outboard.

IT IS GREAT! I was hesitant at first, but it is strong. I mounted the base to the floor, put the top about 6" above the top of the outboard and mounted the 2 support posts to the TOP of the back of the boat. MAKE SURE that the supports (attached with 1/2" or so fine threaded studs) are WELL supported. Luckily my boatd had 1/2" plywood under the 1/4" of fiberglass. Used a forstner bit to drill a nice clean hole, tight fit.

I would highly recommend this product.

MAKE SURE - that you apply tension to the main pole (toward the bow) before adjusting the length of the supports. This "pre-loads" the support bars..
